Our History

Since 1995 Ear Health has pioneered ear care services and ear cleaning by Microsuction (earwax removal) in New Zealand.

Ear Health is committed to providing you with health services that are professional, efficient and delivered to an exceptional standard.

We are entirely New Zealand owned and operated, and from Invercargill to Kerikeri, we take pride in our devotion to the aural health and well-being of the communities we work and live in.

In 1993 Ear Health applied for the ‘Glue Ear’ initiative run by Western Bay Health.

The programme was government-funded and targeted children. Ear Health was employed to establish a mobile van clinic and visit pre-schools, schools, and kohanga reo to provide a service to improve children’s ear health.

The programme had a significant impact on many of these children’s health, behaviour, and academic achievement.

Thanks to patient recommendations, support from the hearing association, and increasing referrals from GP’s, Ear Health became a full-time business in 1995.

Ear Health has remained relevant by offering an ear care service that focuses on the patient, is professional, and is done to a high standard.

In August 1995, with the support of a charitable trust, Ear Health established a children’s ear care programme in Rarotonga, which was coordinated until 2008. The involvement of Ear Health clinical staff in Rarotonga recommenced in 2012.

In 2016 Soren Thompson became the new owner of Ear Health.

Soren practised as a General Practitioner in Europe before moving to New Zealand in the early 2000s. Not long after arriving, he completed a Masters of Audiology and worked as an Audiologist throughout NZ.

Soren then started his own business and established several clinics in the Canterbury region. A few years later, he moved to Auckland to manage his Ear Health clinics and the larger franchise.
