My name is Vanessa, and I have been working as an Ear Health Nurse for 12 years. Since qualifying as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) in 1994, I have gained experience in various areas, including Emergency nursing, Orthopaedics and Military nursing. Recently, I completed the RN Prescribing in Community Health qualification.
Community Nurse Prescribers can provide prompt treatment for ear problems without the need to wait for a doctor’s appointment. They are qualified to prescribe oral antibiotics for both children and adults, as well as topical ear drops for bacterial and fungal infections. With the right equipment to accurately assess whether an infection is present, antibiotics are only prescribed when truly necessary, ensuring timely and effective care.
Services provided:
- Examine ears using a microscope and remove earwax or debris using gentle microsuction.
- Medications to be prescribed for ear problems only.
- Otoendoscopy, video and photography as needed.
- Ear health maintenance for adults and children (normally over 12 months).
- Education.
Rest home and private visits by arrangement.
Wheelchair access.

Adult: Consultation + Standard | Appointment: $60
Children/Student: Consultation + Standard | Appointment: $50
Consultation + ACC | Appointment: $50 (for those with an ACC claim number for hearing loss)
Consultation + War Pension | Appointment: Funded
